The IMPEX 5.5.3 release
This patch-release fixes a GUI frontend freeze that sometimes appeared where it looked like the USBProtect station stopped working. We believed we had fixed it in 5.5.2 since we no longer could reproduce it then but eventually we could. These fixes are to slightly loosen our own SELinux sandbox around the Chrome browser since it has changed its behavior upon getting permission denied on certain actions it wants to do.
USBProtect fix
- Fixed occasional GUI frontend freezes. The Chrome SELinux sandbox did not allow Chrome to bind to localhost UDP ports which in some cases caused it to freeze. The actual scan continued in the background but the user got no feedback anymore since the Chrome render thread stopped rendering.
Datalock fix
- Fix remote server upload attempt backoff timer. 5.3.0 introduced a regression where Datalock no longer used its backoff timer when uploads to the remote server failed. This caused it to retry a failed upload every minute.

Each ISO and VHD release has a software bill of materials (SBOM), to make introspection of the release easy to integrate with a number of security tools.
Update Instructions
For networked Impex stations this release will be automatically installed as part of the regular update process. No manual steps are required from administrators or users. The system will apply the update seamlessly in the background, ensuring that the latest fixes are in place without any interruption to normal operations.
For standalone Impex stations, your organisation needs to download the update from portal.sysctl.se in accordance with the update instructions in chapter “USBProtect in offline mode” in the Impex USB Protect user manual.
