Information about the IMPEX release 5.4.1

Release Type: General

Release date: 2025-08-23

The IMPEX 5.4.1 release

This release is a mix of minor new functionality and fixes. Some customers will be happy to see that we now detect Audio CDs and display an informational message to the end user what this means. Better input validation on the ICC for proxy fields will make life easier for ICC admins. The Yara functionality has also been improved to better suit customers using this together with the extract password protected archive functionality.

ICC fixes

  • The Yara rules view got CSS fixes to again enable scrolling functionality in the “View Detail” window
  • Fixed input validation on repo proxy and upstream proxy fields in Repository Settings
  • Fixed input validation on proxy field on the configuration card

ICC changes

  • Time synchronizing service got additional lock down configuration

USBProtect changes

  • Audio CDs are now detected and an informational text is shown about why one does not need to scan audio CDs
  • More configuration options are shown in the configuration view
  • An informational popup has been added to the frontend which pops up when a non mass storage device is attached and is blocked by the udev rules
  • The “Decrypted archives suppress Yara hits” functionality has been changed to include all yara rule files that include _encrypted_ in the name. This is useful for customers adding their own versions of the encrypted file detection yara rules.
  • Added audit log messages when a user unpacks or fails to unpack a password protected archive. These log messages get sent to ICC which logs them to syslog
  • The initial check for encrypted archive files has been made much faster. This will be noticed mostly on CDROM readers where reading data is slow.

USBProtect and Datalock fixes

  • Fixed File Filter update when the on disk version had been corrupted earlier (could potentially occur if the disk runs full)

Installation

  • The installation process is enhanced. In the installation menu, there are now options for “new install” that overwrites previous content on the disk. There are still possibilities for upgrades that preserve the configuration files on an Impex station.
