Information about the IMPEX release 5.1.2
The IMPEX 5.1.2 release
The most important thing with this release is the feature that enables your organisation to automatically, but with control, upgrade your existing Impex USB Protect stations from 4.1.4 to 5.1.2. There is a new setting to allow automatic upgrade in the configuration card that by default is set to false. See picture below that describes the new settings in the ICC interface.
The upgrade has been tested extensively but switching operating systems is more risky than a normal software upgrade so our recommendation is for customers with many stations to stage out upgrades to a few stations at a time. In case an upgrade fails on a station it needs to be re-installed with an ISO image from the SYSCTL portal.
To stage out this upgrade, create a new Configuration with the setting “Upgrade CentOS7 -> Sysctl Linux” enabled and then assign a few stations to this configuration card. The assigned stations will then attempt to automatically upgrade themselves in the night.
Automatic upgrade cannot be done if the station card is red. This means that the prerequisites that the upgrade job expects were not there. It might be possible that we can fix the automatic upgrade job if the “CentOS7 Upgrade check log” is submitted to us. This log can be found on the Station Detailed view.
As previously said, if the card is green, and the setting “Upgrade Centos7 -> Sysctl Linux “ has been enabled in the configuration card for the station, it will be automatically upgraded at 03.00 next night.
If all went well, the IMPEX version on the stations should be 5.1.1 and continue to automatically upgrade to 5.1.2 next night.
ICC fixes
- The time server was not enabled and started. This was a regression introduced with the 5.x series and could cause incorrect time on stations and servers
ICC changes
- Added support for showing if old stations can be automatically upgraded to 5.1.1 which is based on our new operating system Sysctl Linux 40
- Changed the default number of operations to be used for the Overview-view in ICC from one week to one month
Station fixes
- rebooting the station with a CDROM drive with media attached did not work, it got detected but no files were listed
